Forever Folk Fest
The Edmonton Folk Festival Endowment Fund, now three years old, is an important part of the Edmonton Folk Festival's long-term financial stability plan. This fund will be used to help keep ticket prices accessible for all patrons in times of rising costs, especially for world-calibre artists. The Festival Endowment Fund provides an opportunity for patrons of fine folk music to ensure this style of music continues forever in the Edmonton region. The Folk Festival will also contribute surplus funds yearly and all proceeds from candle sales during the Festival into the Legacy Fund.
The Endowment Fund—All funds donated to the Festival Legacy Fund are turned over to the Edmonton Community Foundation for investment. The Folk Festival receives a fixed return of 4.5% per year forever.
How can I get involved? You can choose a living legacy or bequest approach (or a combination).
Living Legacy—If you want to contribute now, on your own behalf or in memory of someone who loved the Festival, here is what you can do:
a. Any time of year—Come to the Festival office in Edmonton at 10115-97A Avenue during office hours (map on Festival website at Contact Us) or mail your cheque, payable to the Edmonton Folk Festival Endowment Fund to P.O. Box 4130, Edmonton, AB T6E 4T2. You can also make your contribution in the name of the Edmonton Folk Festival Endowment Fund at the Edmonton Community Foundation, 9910-103 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5K 2V7. Either way, you will receive a charitable contribution tax receipt. A not-for-profit society, the Festival is a registered charity.
b. During the Festival—Go to the Information Tent and make your contribution, cheque payable to the Edmonton Folk Festival Endowment Fund. A charitable donation tax receipt will be mailed to you after the Festival.
Bequest—You can name the Edmonton Folk Festival Endowment Fund as a beneficiary in your will. This legacy will have the same long-term effect of assuring that the Folk Festival continues to provide quality folk music experiences in the Edmonton region. If you decide on this approach, we would appreciate you letting us know about your commitment.
