Mike McDonald
Mike
McDonald has been described as an entertainer who has "staked out a place somewhere between the roar of punk and the twang of country" (Globe and Mail). He's also been "keeping alive the flame of real Alberta roots music for over two decades." In his early years it was with punk bands such as Joey Did, the Necrophiliacs and the Malibu Kens that McDonald began to earn his reputation. Then there were years of touring and recording with Jr. Gone Wild. That period's compared to the Michael Turner story of a fictitious punk band touring Canada-it was turned into the movie Hardcore Logo. In the movie, the highway leading into Edmonton is even called the Mike McDonald Freeway.
