Ron Hynes
Ron Hynes first left Newfoundland almost 30 years ago, and his career has taken him away from home many times since. Throughout those years, he's earned a reputation as a singing poet, and his most recent album, Face to the Gale, addresses leaving and loss, with the addendum "I hope that they [the songs] are also about strength and courage and the adventure of change." His songs have been recorded by artists such as Emmylou Harris, Prairie Oyster, Mary Black and John McDermott. He also won a Genie for Best Song for "The Final Breath," which has been re-recorded for Face to the Gale. Hynes has also toured nationally with the comedy troupe CODCO, written and produced The Lost Island Opry and performed in the Hank Williams show The Show He Never Gave. Joining Ron are Colin Linden on electric guitar and Richard Bell on keyboards.
