La Galvaude
Dust off those dancin' shoes! La Galvaude, the youngest traditional French-Canadian Group on the Quebec music scene, is guaranteed to have everyone on their feet. The group takes songs from Quebec's heritage, infuses them with elements from traditional and contemporary Celtic music and arranges them to reflect their own modern-day influences. Among these influences are Quebec's La Bottine Souriante and Manigance.
La
Galvaude was founded only four years ago by three music students who shared a knack for fancy Québécois footwork-Stéphanie Lépine, an exceptional fiddle player; Bobby Bordeleau, a striking vocalist, drummer, guitarist and prankster; and éric Beaudry, a swoonable vocalist and a talent on guitar, mandolin and flute. They were later joined by Henri Mondor, whose flute-playing adds a perfect touch of Celtic to the group; Frederik Darveau on electric bass and Patrick Graham, who adds a unique world beat on percussion. La Galvaude is propelling high-test interpretations of unmatched French-Canadian heritage into the next century.
