Dee Carstensen
What's
most obvious about singer-songwriter Dee Carstensen is that she's a harp player-not the 100-gram Hohner variety-rather, the 40-kilogram classical type. It's a bit of a surprise then, when she puts fingers to strings and out comes a Jimi Hendrix cover.
Her diverse interests stretch back to her classical training on harp and piano in Rochester, N.Y., when she also followed music by Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, Jackson Browne and the like.
That Carstensen is an amalgam of musical personalities should be readily apparent when she sits down to accompany herself on the harp, as well as on the piano.
Joining Dee on guitar is Tanya Wollen and on percussion, Everett Bradley.
