Steve Earle
Steve
Earle's past charts a journey from the wild side of Texas country through uncharted reaches via Nashville. Dating back to his early years with Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, he had an affection (or affliction) for life on the edge that descended into heroin addiction, and back.
Early on, his lifestyle and lyrics garnered same-breath comparisons to Hank Williams Sr., and his 1986 debut album, Guitar Town, started him on the road to four Grammy nominations. Ten years later, he lists himself as a survivor, and his music is found on the soundtrack for 'Dead Man Walking', as well as a new album, 'I Feel Alright'. He still charts his own course, as evidenced by his choice of the reggae classic, 'Johnny Too Bad', for a British release.
Earle is backed by The Dukes: David Steele, Kelly Looney, Kurt Custer and Mark Stuart.
