Scott Wicken
Scott Wicken has traveled across Canada several times on Greyhound buses, took a lot of notes, and thought a lot. These thoughts became brilliant little poems and songs which Wicken performed in front of larger and larger audiences.
In 1993 he recorded an independent cassette, Deeds of Dogs and Heroes, which he sold out, so he decided to record another one. In the summer of 1994 Wicken recorded his new CD Something Wicken This Way Comes. Guest musicians on the recording include Bill Bourne, Chris Smith, Shannon Johnson, Cory Danyluk of Cactus Gang and others.
As well as his frequent solo performances, which are a riveting mixture of spoken word pieces and songs, Wicken has been co-writing comedy with Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie and Jr. Gone Wild. The summer of 1995 saw Wicken writing and acting in The Pirate Radio Show which was performed at the Princess Theatre and broadcast live on CBC Edmonton for five days in August. He also appeared in Messiah, a rock opera of alien abduction and the birth of Christ . The show appeared at the Roxy Theatre and the Horowitz, as well as in Winnipeg.
Scott will appear at the festival with Chris Smith, Luann Kowalek, and Terry Morrison in their talent amalgam The Marlin Spike Revue.
