Catie Curtis
Catie
Curtis comes from the United States' East Coast folk music scene where coffeehouses still produce singer/songwriters. Originally from Maine, she grew up in a musical family and began writing and playing in high school and university, before becoming a social worker in Boston while continuing her music.
She's recently released her second album, 'Truth From Lies', which features a song written for her father's retirement. 'Dad's Yard' is about a man's compulsion to collect things, but reflects a more deep-rooted need to help others.
Curtis' work has been well-received in such venerable institutions as The Bottom Line. A New York Times review of a February date, describes her... "in a folk-pop field awash with romantic self-dramatization and literary pretension, Ms. Curtis is a promising voice on behalf of truthful understatement."
