Bill Bourne and Shannon Johnson

Although Bill Bourne and Shannon Johnson have become familiar fixtures on the Alberta folk music scene, they are always welcome at the Festival -- the duo has a wealth of talent and experience which is always appreciated.

Both are Albertans, and Bourne includes the venerable Tannahill Weavers among his musical roots, as well as his subsequent successes as part of Bourne and MacLeod. Johnson is a medal-winning classical violinist, who has performed with the McDade Family Band.

Together, they first recorded Dear Madonna, and their newest effort, Victory Train, came out earlier this year. The uninitiated can look forward to various combinations of traditional folk, country, blues, bluegrass and swing jazz.
